The annual Medicare Advantage (MA) Open Enrollment Period began January 1 and runs through March 31. This is the time period when beneficiaries can switch Medicare Advantage plans, opt for original Medicare or join a prescription drug plan.

Beneficiaries can: (1) Switch to another MA plan with or without drug coverage, (2) drop their MA plan and go back to original Medicare or (3) join a Medicare drug plan.

Coverage starts: the first of the month after the plan receives the request

OEP is a great opportunity to focus on retention. Check in with your clients to answer questions, ensure they understand their benefits and have the resources they need to start using them.
