Health navigators connect members with crucial resources

When navigating the world of health care insurance, who wouldn’t want a personal assistant?

Align powered by Sanford Health Plan plan members are fortunate to have access to one.

Their personal assistant, or health navigator, can connect them with the care and wellness options they need.

“It’s a white glove service that guides members through their plan and the health care system,” said Randi Frodermann, a member experience health navigator for Sanford Health Plan. “We’re experts on the supplemental benefits and extra features that come with their plans.”

Those supplemental benefits include dental, vision and hearing, the Silver & Fit fitness program and over-the-counter nonprescription drugs and health-related items.

Whenever someone enrolls in Align powered by Sanford Health Plan, a health navigator calls to welcome them.

“We have so many great interactions with members. It’s reassuring that they know who they’ll be speaking with,” said Randi.

Members have told her they enjoy having a small, local group of people to help them.

On one of her favorite calls, Randi was able to welcome a new member and help his friends.

“They were passing the phone around at a coffee shop and all of them were asking questions. It created a strong relationship,” she said.

Health navigators often create unique connections with members.

“I don’t think they’d have that with any other plan,” Randi stated.

Members can reach a navigator by phone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. Health navigator services are confidential and provided at no additional cost.
