Expanding coverage options for your employees in 2027
We’re improving access for your employees to receive high-quality care through your health plan. Starting in 2027, eligibility for the TRUE and PLUS plans will be based on your business location instead of where your employees live. This will make it easier for your employees to access care, even if they live outside of the current network.
We understand today’s workforce is more geographically dispersed, and this change is designed to better support your team while maintaining access to high-quality, cost-effective care.
More details will be shared soon, but if you have any questions in the meantime, please refer to the FAQ document or contact your broker or account representative. The employee FAQ document may be shared with your employees.
IRS announces 2027 HSA limits
On May 29, 2026, the IRS announced the 2027 health savings account (HSA) limits, giving employers a chance to start planning for next year. While the changes are modest, they provide employees with more opportunity to save for healthcare expenses.
Below are the key updates for the 2027 calendar year:
HSA contribution limits
Catch-up contributions (age 55+)
HDHP eligibility requirements
To contribute to an HSA, employees must be enrolled in a qualified high-deductible health plan:
HSAs continue to be one of the most powerful savings tools available because they offer a triple tax advantage. For your employees, the higher limits in 2027 mean more opportunities to offset rising healthcare costs, increased flexibility to manage current and future expenses and ability to build long-term savings for retirement healthcare.
Teledoc HEALTH program ending July 31, 2026
Sanford Health Plan will discontinue its diabetes management program offered through Teladoc HEALTH, effective July 31, 2026. Members who are currently enrolled in the Teladoc HEALTH diabetes management program will be notified by letter that outlines the change and explains alternative wellness resources available through Sanford Health Plan.
The Teladoc HEALTH program is being discontinued due to a low financial return on investment. While the program may have been a valuable resource and was offered at no cost to eligible members with diabetes, the decision reflects Sanford Health Plan’s broader commitment to sustainability and responsible resource allocation.
Sanford Health Plan offers several alternative wellness and diabetes support resources that members can use in place of Teladoc HEALTH, including online wellness tools offered through WebMD ONE, health coaching, fitness center reimbursement and diabetic supplies and equipment.
